Our Curriculum

Victory Christian Academy mainly use ABeka, Bob Jones, Spell, Read and Write and other Christian publishers. The curriculum, utilized by our sensitive staff is designed to allow students to work on their own level of achievement, which may vary from subject to subject.

A student can develop skills while working at his/her own academic level within the limits of his/her own ability, and according to his/her own background. Through controls and motivation, he/she is able to advance to his/her highest potential. We place the tools of academic learning in the hands of the student. Since learning tools are tailored to his/her ability, not age, an impressive degree of success is possible.

When learning materials are prescribed individually to inspire maximum achievement, no fast student is held back and no slow student is compelled to keep up with a Lock-step group; both will enjoy their individual success. Neither will suffer the "failure" image.

Professional guidance provides control and inspiration. There are many checks and balances throughout the school day to build self-discipline and a success-consciousness. Class rules and earned privileges combine to minimize problems and promote respect for authority. The teacher as a counselor, supervisor and friend, is present to stimulate cooperation, maximum learning and respect for leadership.

Our Curriculum is comparable to that offered in the public school to allow students the mobility and competitive edge when they enter college. We allow the students computer time to improve on skills needed to take their SAT, a criteria colleges look for upon entering their institution. Electives are offered to students in grades 9 through 12. All students are required to complete a minimum of four electives in order to graduate.

In addition, Music, Art, and Physical Education are given weekly and are a required part of the curriculum for all students. These programs are conducted in a classroom environment. This gives the student an opportunity for interaction and self-expression. Programs such as musical productions and presentations, public and school art exhibits are a regular part of our yearly activities. An added enhancement to our curriculum is that the Spanish language is introduced to our students beginning in Kindergarten.

We allow our students to participate in the standardized testing New York State Education Department requires of their public schools. The California Achievement Test is used to evaluate student's academic achievement and Test of Cognitive Skills is used to evaluate student's cognitive abilities. High school students are encouraged to take the New York State Regents Exams.
