Global Community Life Services

Victory Church of God has fixed their mission efforts undeviating into the Brookhaven Community. Many of the outreach programs were conceived in response to the seemingly overwhelming deteriorating conditions that exists in the North Bellport Community. Drugs, prostitution, poverty, and poor housing, are some of the surface problems linked to root causes that may be defined as hopelessness, lack of moral values, and lack of leadership.

Thus Global Community Life Services was created.

The North Bellport community we serve is designated as an "Empire Zone." The zone is documented as low-income with high percentage of families receiving assistance from New York State's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

In an effort to improve our community we began numerous services that addressed many of the issues that plagued this beleaguered neighborhood. Some of these services such as Victory Housing, Financial Freedom Clinic, North Bellport Athletic Association (NBAA)along with others have become the pillars of "Victorious Character Building".

Part of our developmental strategy focused on building relationship with the residents of the community. Many of the people who have enrolled into our programs were struggling with low-self esteem, a poverty mentality and other barriers. We continue to develop programs to address the complex needs of these and other families throughout our community.

As we evaluated individuals' and/or families' progress, it was evident that those who enrolled in one or more of our program were most likely to succeed. Our desire is to help people grow. Through our localized network of services, we will empower them to become strong families and productive citizens.

Still in its developmental stages, GCLS is a private, nonprofit, community- based organization, recently initiated to coordinate, develop and deliver holistic services to the total family.

These services include, financial counseling (teaching families to become financially free), housing, employment placement and training. These were all established to reduce the need for family dependency upon federal, state and county funds, such as AFDC and extended employment benefits.
